Cast Your Burdens

"Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved." Psalm 55:22 KJV

Backstory: Today's scripture comes from a prayer of emotional distress where the writer earnestly seeks God. This individual expresses deep sorrow from betrayal and a culture of chaos that surrounds them. They were betrayed by an acquaintance; they were caught by surprise due to the nature of the relationship. While they continue to discuss their terrors, the writer frequently notes that they trust God. The select scripture says that despite all the turmoil that they describe they know God is able to sustain them.

Response:  Psalm 55 is all about encouragement. A reader can use the prayer like a template and consider their own afflictions. With undesirable circumstances, give it to God! In conjunction with this message it is important to consider other scriptures that discuss obedience. When we give our burdens to the Lord, we must also have an open ear, heart, and mind to what God needs us to do.

We pray that you consider the emotions expressed in the prayer of the psalmist. Understand that being a child of God and a follower of Christ does not exempt you from the wickedness of this world. However, with God, through Jesus Christ we can rest assured that if we are righteous we shall not be moved. We will be covered by a spiritual shield. God's unfailing love shall keep us. Give the problem to God without any reservations and you will be sustained through anything.

In Jesus mighty name,

Hallelujah, Amen!
