Plans for Prosperity

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord , “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

Backstory: This scripture was written in a letter by prophet Jeremiah concerning the Lord's plans for a group of exiles that were taken from Jerusalem to Babylon. The people were instructed to build and tend to the land; they would prosper as the land prospered. God wanted them to be content where He placed them and to pray to Him regarding the land. The letter notes that there was an appointed time in which they, along with exiles in other places, would all be freed and returned to their former land.

Response: The Word of God is relevant today as it was many years ago. If you ever find yourself displaced from your housing, employment, family, sanctuary, or elsewhere, keep your focus on God. Pray to God that His intentions be revealed to you concerning the new environment. When God moves you, trust that there is a purpose beyond your own experience. We must remember that God has created a world visible and invisible to our human eyes. Instead of complaining or falling into mental imprisonment, pray that God gives you peace that surpasses all of your humanly capacity to understand (Philippians 4:7).

We pray that you are reminded that God never leaves nor forsakes you. In foreign lands, God has already worked things for your good in His master blueprint. Trust God even when you do not understand the full scenario. Pray to God to be revealed necessary instructions and wisdom in His perfect timing. When you fall short, return to God. It is His hope that you have a prosperous future. Be encouraged by today's scripture, we hope this Daily Short strengthens you in your faith walk. May you bravely let go of your sinful ways and let God prosper you.

In Jesus mighty name,

Hallelujah, Amen!
