Reason for Hope
"But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect," 1 Peter 3:15 NIV
Words of Encouragement
To revere someone or something is to hold a such a deep admiration towards them that you mentally distinguish them from others. You often worship the subject and consider them to be of high caliber. This is what children of God are called to do in reference to Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. In addition, we must also be able to share the good news with others and help them to understand why we have hope in Christ; do this in a kind manner.
I encourage you to consider the love that Jesus Christ showed when dying for our sins on the cross. This love is agape, unconditional. We, humans often hold others accountable to a checklist of wrongs and treat them accordingly. God is good to us at all times regardless of our faults.
How do you treat others who have wronged you? Do you pray for them and still show the love of Christ? Or are you more likely to be rude and of an evil spirit? Remember, we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Use wisdom when interacting with others and allow the Holy Spirit to lead you!
Prayer
Dear Lord God,
We thank you for this present moment. You have supplied us with a scripture to meditate on, implement into our lives, and share with others. Teach us what it means to revere Christ as Lord. Help us to always be prepared to respond in a kind manner when someone asks about our hope in Christ. Let our testimony and perseverance glorify you!
We pray and ask these things in the name of Jesus Christ.
Hallelujah, Amen!
