The Seen and Unseen

"So we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are unseen; for the things which are visible are temporal [just brief and fleeting], but the things which are invisible are everlasting and imperishable." 2 Corinthians 4:18 AMP

Backstory: Apostle Paul is speaking to the Corinthian congregation with whom he has formed a long-term relationship. He starts by giving God the glory for the ministry that they formed. Then he encourages them to stay motivated in the truth of God and to be a light to the world. Paul addresses several issues that they face and how God has sustained them. He expresses much confidence in God and the word of God. He ends with today's scripture which concludes that despite the chaos that surrounds them, the seen things, it is important to remember the invisible (God) that leads to everlasting life.

Response: Trouble will not last always! We sing this song verse and use it as an affirmation, but we often forget the concept when facing real-life troubles. Followers of Jesus Christ hope for eternal life, yet live in frustration as if there is nothing beyond this Earth experience. We get caught in the visible and tangible struggles, but do not acknowledge that God has already won the ultimate victory. Take your focus off of the circumstance and put full trust in God. Stop becoming so obsessed with things of this current life that you lose your sanity. There is much more greatness than our human minds can imagine in eternity.

We pray that you take the time to read Apostle Paul's letters to the people of Corinth. See how the circumstances of their congregation, relationships, and faith relate to your life. The holy bible is the living Word of God that is timeless; the same lessons of yesterday can apply to today. Be reminded that trouble is temporary as is this current life. Be strong in faith knowing that there is life beyond our mortal experience on Earth that is available to those who believe and heed to the Word of God.

In Jesus mighty name,

Hallelujah, Amen!
