While He Is Near
"Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon." Isaiah 55:6-7 KJV
Backstory: Chapter 55 in the book of Isaiah is an invitation to the Lord. The reader is encouraged to seek God while the opportunity is available. This implies that at some point in time (in death) it is too late. Today's scripture urges sinners to let go of their evil ways and repent to God who is merciful.
Response: The writer wants readers to know that God is attainable and desires us to seek Him. When we seek the Lord and let go of unrighteous ways, the mercy of God pardons us. It is important to note that this is in reference to a sincere heart. God knows our heart and we cannot fool Him as we can mankind. You can shout up and down the sanctuary, volunteer for a great cause, or donate all of your possessions; if your intentions are not pure then trust that God already knows.
We pray that you accept the invitation to receive God in your heart and follow Jesus Christ. Learn to seek God wholeheartedly and repent of your wicked ways. Do not put on a show to impress mankind. Be authentic in your desire to live righteously and if you need a change of heart, seek God who is able to do all things.
In Jesus mighty name,
Hallelujah, Amen!
