Detoured by Purpose

Our Mission

Our mission is to encourage individuals to seek God and to live in their God-ordained purpose.

Scripture

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” (KJV, Romans 8:28)

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for this day. Thank You for including us in today’s plan, therefore having a purpose for our existence. Guide us to our calling according to Your will. Make it clear what You desire for us based on the gifts that You have bestowed upon us. Help us to see the power of living in our God-ordained purpose. Expose all sources of distraction so that we might stay in Your perfect will, on the straight and narrow path. We declare and decree that with every obstacle that presents itself there is victory because Jesus has won it all. We trust in You that we have not been hindered for destruction instead, we have been detoured by purpose.

In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

Message

What does it mean to be detoured by purpose? What would be God’s intention in the cancellations, resets, and moments of delay that threaten our daily plans? The answer is quite simple. God intends to detour us from our plans to align us with Him. God has a master blueprint for our lives; an elaborate scheme to bless us beyond the capacity of our human minds. I am referring to the Creator of the ever-expanding universe; the one and only God who always was, is, and will be. Where our perception of reality is distorted, God has the full untainted truth. Through real-life examples let us explore the truth of how God’s divine interception saves us:

Cancellations

A cancellation to a long-term investment can leave an individual hurt, confused, and full of grief. This is an ugly reality that people face in romantic relationships; dating, engaged, and married. It is hard to fathom that someone who once made you feel like you were floating in the heavens could turn into a nightmare from the pits of hell. For some reason you want to hold on, but the relationship eventually comes to an end. You are not alone in your experience or the aftermath. The fact is that God is with you and already has a plan to use the pain for your growth!  Psalm 5:12 says that God covers the righteous with favor as with a shield. The cancellation of a relationship may very well save your life, God shielded you from a tragedy. The fairytales that we craft are with limited knowledge, but God is omniscient. God knew every aspect of us before we formed in our mother’s womb. This means that He knows what we need before we hit the next stage of life. Toxic relationships thwart our growth and unless we submit to God’s will for our life we may never learn.

Resets

What if you spend a great sum of time in an educational program just to never receive proof of completion? Millions of students have faced this dilemma when their institutions lost accreditation, closed, or turned out to be scams. They are left with frustrations, in disbelief that years of hard work became null. Once calm, they might seek a new program. Chances are their credits will not be recognized and they will need to start from the basics. What purpose could God have with this type of reset? One of the greatest traits that someone could gain from this is patience! We pray to God for patience and miss the opportunity to gain it when challenges are presented. Romans 12:12 tells us to be patient in tribulation and constant in prayer. There are numerous reasons God could allow you to be a student in crisis. Maybe you lacked focus and did not gain enough experience. As time-consuming as it may sound; sometimes we must reset. Like a VHS tape we are rewound to be reanalyzed. There is something that we missed the first round that needs a closer look. God will magnify points that we overlook and expose new information. Whether a student or not, be patient in tribulations and converse with God to see what facets of your life may need more attention.

Delays

On January 1st, 2020 I scrolled my social media timelines to see the message ‘2020, The Year of Clear Vision’ written on almost everyone’s new year posts. This trend continued as numerologist and self-proclaimed prophets preached to the masses; this was absolutely their winning season. For some, the scheduled programming of 2020 went on as expected, while many had to postpone until further notice. On March 11th, the United States government officially declared the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout the year millions of lives have been lost, transformed, and left in shambles. Life did not turn out to be as clear as promised. The book of James, chapter 4 talks about the sin of boasting as often performed around the start of a new year. We are not to say, “today or tomorrow we will go into town and trade and make a profit… [we] do not know what tomorrow will bring” (KJV, James 4:13). The pandemic was a huge part of 2020 that was left out of the prophesies shared by countless individuals. As the effects set in place the same individuals who made assured statements were on to a new topic. James chapter 4 continues to say that when we make plans we must say “if the Lord wills…”, because God’s plan for us is much greater than our own! Despite the death tolls and lingering effects of the coronavirus there have been many blessings. Some companies improvised to remain in operation, many people are gainfully employed, and the unemployed have received favor through pandemic relief benefits. The world is not perfect, but God’s touch makes life worth living.

When we consider everyday events there are countless times that God’s grace has saved us. He has shielded us from the seen and unseen; protected us from unimaginable dangers. We could never thank God enough for all that He has done. It is His desire that we live a prosperous life filled with love, peace, and a sound mind. So, when God interrupts your mission do not think it is by mistake, instead consider yourself to have been detoured by purpose.

Poem

It is with purpose that I have been detoured

The Creator of the ever-expanding universe has found favor in me

Every cancellation, reset, or moment of delay is purposeful

The intent of God is to position me for that which is greater

My purpose is beyond my own life

So, when detoured I fret not

I know that I have been divinely interrupted

I have been detoured by purpose.
